Easton Station

During 2024 we built a replica of Easton Station on Portland based on the 1930 survey maps and some historical photographs.

Easton Station was essentially a passenger terminus with only a single quarry line proceeding from it into a coal yard andstone quarry.

This layout was our 1st attempt at modelling an actual station and has been designed to model automated shunting on DCC layouts.

Easton station was demonstrated along with the main Church Hope layout at shows in Weymouth and Bournemouth in 2024 and generated a lot of interest from local people who wanted to know more about this Portland Railway.

In 2025 we separated Easton Station to make operating the Church Hope layout easier and also to allow Easton Station to be demonstrated at shows where the larger Church Hope layout could not be accommodated. In 2025 we demonstrated the layout at Wimborne and Weymouth model railway shows.

Technical

Easton Station is available for shows and measures approximately 15ft by 3ft. The layout is automated and contains some additional educational information about the history of Easton Station as well as information about designing and building DCC layouts.
